Connection Science is a world-leading inter-disciplinary journal dedicated to exploring the convergence of the analytic and synthetic sciences of mind including psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, linguistics, cognitive science, computational modelling, artificial intelligence, analog and parallel computing, and robotics. A strong focus is on the simulation of living systems and their societies, including humans, and on the development of novel forms of synthetic life such as biomimetic robots. Articles arising from connectionist, probabilistic, dynamical, or evolutionary approaches, and that explore distributed adaptive computation or emergent order, are particularly relevant. The journal also encourages submission of research in systems-level computational neuroscience that seeks to understand sensorimotor integration, perception, cognition, or awareness in brain-like model systems. Manuscripts that employ empirical methodologies or that explore social, theoretical or philosophical issues will be considered where there is a clear relevance to the synthetic approach and/or its societal impacts. Review, road-mapping, or perspective papers are welcome; authors are advised to consult the Editor-in-Chief if considering a submission of this nature. Proposals for special issues in cutting-edge areas are encouraged, and should be discussed with the Editor-in-Chief. All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double blind and submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts. Queries regarding submissions can be made by contacting the Editor-in-Chief, whose decision is final.Cognitive scientists, neural network researchers, psychologists and philosophers interested in theories and computational models of cognition, adaptation and behavior. All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees.
